• Sadly not as good as the Baby Sponge version which Hubby and I LOVE. Sponge was still light and fluffy (and still is a number of days later) but I personally wasn't a fan of the large walnuts on the top and throughout. The Baby Sponge version have finely chopped Walnuts sprinkled on top and they're not obvious if they're in the sponge mix too. Probably wouldn't purchase the large Carrot Cake Sponge again because of that but definitely don't change the Baby Sponge version because they're fab! Certainly not a criticism because this is clearly adored by lots of other customers but, for me, I just didn't find it as good as the Baby Sponge version. I've had the large Victoria sponge before (gifted to my parents and I was lucky enough to get a slice) and that was gorgeous and equally as good, if not better, than the Baby Sponge version.

• Carrot cake my favourite. Bought one to treat myself. Lovely fluffy sponge with lots of fresh walnuts and the not too sweet buttercream. Delicious.

• This is my favourite of the cakes. Very moist and light and plenty of walnuts, just as a carrot cake should be.

• The obvious freshness of the cake was the highlight and also, the easy storage so it didn’t have to clog up my fridge.

• It is a very good idea - inexpensive but special treat for a birthday gift. Nice surprise for the recipient - a bit different from flowers or wine. Hope it doesn’t too more expensive or is copied as Sponge are doing it very nicely.

• Moist and delicious with lots of fruit and walnuts. Cutting neat slices tricky because of the walnuts - but I’d willingly sacrifice neatness for flavour.

• The special Friday offers are great - and this carrot cake was perfect. Our son has a favourite carrot cake that is his preferred birthday cake, but this one is definitely on a par with that. It's a lovely touch to include some napkins too. The cake is moist, full of flavour and gives 8 very generous slices. There's some lovely different ideas too - sharing cakes, mini cakes - it's just a great, fun idea and we would certainly recommend you give them a try - you'll be hooked!
