• Due to covid tier restrictions I was unable to see my youngest son for his birthday in early January as there were tier 4 restrictions in both of our counties. He had also not been able to come home from uni for Christmas either as the tier 4 had come in before he travelled home. I wanted therefore to try and make his birthday special in some way and spent quite a bit of time on the internet looking for birthday cake delivery before I came upon 'sponge'. Most of the other companies I looked at were either extremely expensive or did not look fantastic - looked at his local area as well as an option but most wanted you to go into their shops to pay. So to cut a long story short was pleased when I found 'sponge' as there seemed very reasonable, included delivery and make delicious cakes! I usually make birthday cakes for my son and he loves a victoria sandwich so I chose that as an option ordering the larger one to make more of a statement (wanted to cheer him up having been away of xmas and now his birthday) which it did. Son described it as 'massive' and said the cake was 'really good, thank you!' Would not hesitate to recommend or use again, thank you 'sponge'! :)

• I ordered this for my sister who is a great cake maker... I am not. It didn't disappoint any of us but in particular my sister absolutely loved not only receiving a cake but the quality of it. It was delicious and I'd highly recommend for someone who is always doing the baking!

• The Victoria Sandwich looked lovely on the beaming pics she sent me, and she said it was delicious box and ribbons perfect. It was delivered on 4th December as requested which was her birthday, ok she was 49 but still likes a birthday cake!!

• This sponge has a tasty jam/ cream layer on a nicely textured sponge I.e a good firmness and not full of air so that it falls apart. Very generous portions. With only a foil cover the sponge was still fresh after 5days.

• I bought this for a victoria sponge lover as a retirement gift. Unfortunately, I didn't get to taste it, but he loved it and told me several times how fantastic the cake was. He is a connoisseur of victoria sponges so it must have been good.

• Very nice sponge was excellent. Love butter cream with the sharp tang from the raspberry jam . We have ordered a few cakes now since lockdown started in march and have loved them them all. Plus a couple of gifts for other people and they loved them to.

• Cake was first class. Beautifully presented, tasted absolutely delicious and was not too sweet. They did not stint on the butter cream in the middle!

• Cake was delicious, would have preferred happy birthday written in icing rather than just plain Victoria sponge, (maybe I missed the option while placing the order) tho my son didn’t mind, he and his friends polished it off in no time!

• Cake for 16 it really was big enough to feed everyone. Can not get this taste from you local supermarket the taste is very good quality.
