• I read the reviews first before buying, as you do. I liked the idea of a coffee cake for my bf's birthday and i was inclined to buy a high street supermarket version but then people were commenting on how sweet they are, which put me off, no matter how cheap they are! Found this whilst searching on google. I thought the price was OK for a nice simple cake, i almost didn't buy it because of the carriage but then i thought well someone has to deliver it - so be it. The courier was DHL, i have ok experience with them so i wasn't concerned about not receiving this. Even though the box that holds the cake has arrows saying this way up, do not hold upside down, the courier didn't care. Luckily it was squished or anything. It was very well packaged. The size was exactly right for the two of us, we spread it out 4 days so we each had 4 slices each. Not too sweet, which i liked and the buttercream was so good and creamy, it cancelled out the "dryness" of the sponge. Saying this, the sponge was still nice even after 4 days. I don't know about other people but i think a sponge is a sponge (i think its meant to be dry) and its never going to be as moist or soggy as other people like it, unless it contains some kind of syrup or treacle. So overall i would buy this again as we both enjoyed it.
