• We followed the instruction to let it reach room temperature - found the waiting difficult! It was a birthday cake for my wife and in the event we consumed it between the two of us over 5 days ! The last slice was as good as the first !

• A Victoria sponge is a plain cake so I realise it is difficult to go above and beyond, and there was nothing bad about it but in my view the sponge was a bit heavy, not as enjoyable as I would have hoped for a £15+ cake and I feel we could have got a better sponge from a supermarket which is a shame as I wanted to support a local business.

• The sponge is utter perfection and I love the thickness of the buttercream and jam. Nothing as joyous as seeing the buttercream layer! The cake has a long life and remains fresh. I literally cannot fault anything!

• A classic cake the sponge is beautifully done and the jam and butter cream delicately add to the flavours.

• Beautiful moist cake , a bit too much buttercream which is very sweet but easy to part cake and slice the buttercream to a lesser thickness , but great service and it is nice to have a weekend treat for family

• Almost a 5 star product for me. The filling let it down. The butter icing was a little too sweet and sugary, needed to be smoother. Not enough jam to taste. With a generous sized cake like this one was, a deeper generous filling is essential. I added more jam in myself. This adjustment would have made it perfect.

• Classic and elegant with a lovely look to it, we used it as the layer we ‘cut the cake’ with.

• comments about Victoria sponge were yummy yummy - delicious. The recipient was also given a home made lemon drizzle cake and quality of the sponge was lighter than the Victoria sponge. It was not a criticism of the quality of the Victoria sponge though.

• Would have liked more jam in the Victoria Sandwich, mine arrived with hardly any and none at all in places. Not at all like in the illustration.
