GET THAT SWEET SPOT

Buttercream loves a gentle warm-up, and brownies need a little patience to reach their soft, gooey magic. Our bakes have been chilling in transit and need time to be their best so if your sponge is a little dry give it some more time.

ROOM TEMP, BEST TEMP

Let your bake rest in their packaging for up to 12 hours or when it reaches room temperature. It will then be at its full, fluffy glory. Cake is always at its best when it’s cosy, not chilly.

KEEP IT FRESH

Pop leftovers in an airtight container and store somewhere cool and dry... no fridge chills or sunbathing, please! Keeping them at room temperature keeps your bakes soft, gooey, and full of joy.

FREEZE FOR FUTURE JOY

Celebration postponed? Wrap your cake carefully and freeze for up to six months. When you’re ready, thaw at room temperature to bring back that soft, fresh-baked magic you love.

Perfect moist very tasty The cake was excellent, moist and full of flavor. We are not marzipan and icing lovers but the covering of both were not too thick so enjoyed. Overall very good. Loved it I was lucky enough to get this cake in the 30% off deal but to be quite honest it would have been tremendous value at full price. The cake was really moist (albeit a little crumbly) with a perfect ratio of marzipan and icing. The whole thing was just delicious and I highly recommend it. Can't wait until next Christmas to get another one! Spicy, moist, fruity, lovely simple presentation 🎁 The cake was superb and if available in 2024 I will definitely buy another one My family in the UK were happy with the cake and the whole process was easy for us to use - well done.

Did you know?

Previously, Christmas cakes were known as Twelfth cakes, that is because they were served at parties on the Twelfth Night, which ended the 12 days of Christmas on the 5th of January.

The Christmas cake actually started as a plum porridge, this was to line people's stomachs after a day of religious fasting. Soon thereafter, people started incorporating other fruits, and perhaps a bit of honey, so it started to resemble what we now call a Christmas pudding.

It wasn't until around the 16th century, that more ingredients were added like flour and eggs, meaning the oats were removed, so it started to become the Christmas cakes we know today.

Sponge's Xmas Cake is a traditional (well to today's standard) rich and delicious fruit cake, although not as heavy (in our opinion), so it's much easier on the stomach after a big day of feasting. The cake has a traditional layer of marzipan and is covered in plain white fondant. To finish it all off, it has a lovely ribbon wrapped around the bottom edge of the cake.

Christmas wouldn't be complete without cake, so if you want a delicious Christmas cake, that's convenient but better quality than a supermarket-bought cake, order a Christmas Cake from Sponge.

The idea behind our simple Christmas cake design is that you can add your own Christmas cake decorations to it. Whether you have Christmas cake decorations that have been handed down for generations, or you want to buy new modern cake decorations, you can make this cake perfect for your Christmas day.

We deliver our Christmas Cakes all over the UK, we offer delivery close to Christmas, however, as it's a busy time of year for the courier network, we do recommend selecting a delivery date a few days in advance of the last delivery day. This is in case there are any unforeseen delays (such as vehicle breakdowns), and so that your cakes will be there in plenty of time. Our cakes stay fresh for 7-10 days (depending on the flavour), and don't forget if you want to order your cake in advance you can pop it in the freezer, ready to take out on Christmas Eve to enjoy your cake on Christmas day.
