At Sponge, we’ve made it easy to share your best moments, personal thanks, or even your slightly off-key singing by adding the option to include a video message with your delivery. Whether it’s a Cake Card, Brownie Box, or any Sponge bake with a card, your lucky recipient will find a QR code that links straight to your video; guaranteed to make that grin even wider.
How to add your video message:
- Pick your cake or bake.
- Sending a Cake Card or Brownie Box? Choose a card design or upload your own photo. For other bakes, just click ‘Add a message’and pick your design or photo.
- Type your note, then hit ‘Add a video message’ to upload or record your clip. (Recording your clip is only available when ordering on a phone or tablet.
Press Done, and carry on to checkout.

You must not upload any content that is rude, racist, hateful, discriminatory, or illegal.
Frequently Asked Questions
What products can I add a video message to?
Anything with a card! Cake Cards and Brownie Boxes have these included as standard but you must select ‘add a message’ which starts the greeting card process.
How much does it cost to include a video message?
There is no extra charge for the inclusion of a video message.
What video file formats are accepted for the video message?
We recommend using MP4 file formats.
Can I use something I have pre-recorded or do I just record it at the moment?
Both, you can use something you made earlier or a video from a special shared memory, or record, in the moment, on a phone or tablet.
Is there a limit to the length of my message?
Up to 1minute or 200mb.
How do the recipients access the video message?
When they open their card, there will be a QR code which they can scan using the camera on their phone or any other device which scans QR codes.
How long will I be able to access the video message for?
For one month after chosen delivery date. For privacy and data retention reasons all videos are automatically deleted after this. The playback page displays this expiration.
Can I download the video message?
Yes, you can download the message to keep as long as you wish, however you can only download the video 2 times. You can still view the video in the browser up until the expiration regardless of downloads.
