Mother’s Day Cards

How to find the perfect card for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day 2023 is on Sunday the 19th of March. We should always remember to spoil Mum a bit on this day, after all, she helped nurture you and helped you become the person you are today.

The celebration of Mother’s Day doesn’t seem to be as old as we may think. It seems to have been conceived by Anna Jarvis in 1905 following her mother’s death. She designed the day to honour the sacrifices that mothers made for their children.

Today Mother’s Day is celebrated in many countries around the world, although interestingly it’s actually celebrated on the second Sunday of May in many countries such as America, Canada, and Australia. Whereas, obviously, people in the UK will celebrate it in March. That is because it’s actually Mothering Sunday, which is celebrated nine months before December 25th, and it was traditionally a day off for servants. Most would use it to return home and visit their mothers since it was unlikely that they would get to see them during the rest of the year.

In the modern world, we use Mothering Sunday similarly, we often make a point of going to see our mums and giving them cards and gifts to show them our appreciation for all that they have done for us.

It’s nice to do something a bit different each year if you can, but one thing that often stays the same is the card. Traditional cards are images printed on a piece of card that is folded in half with perhaps a poem inside or some nice words, which you can sign your name in and present to your mum. But what if there was a card that was a little bit more special? Something that mum wouldn’t be expecting. Well, there is!

Our Cake Cards are a great surprise for Mum! They are an evolution of a traditional Mother’s Day card. We have a wonderful range of Mother’s Day card designs to choose from, whether you are sending one to your mum, step-mum, or another mother figure in your life, there is a card design for everyone. There aren’t canned messages inside, you can write your own personalised message inside to make it perfect for your Mum.

The surprise comes inside, unlike a traditional card, inside you can put a couple of slices of cake, or some cake and some extra treats. We have lots of cake flavours to choose from, and if your mum has a dietary requirement, we even have gluten free, vegan, and dairy and gluten free slices available.

There are lots of extras you can include in a cake card as well, from relaxing facemasks to tea, coffee, chocolates, and even cocktails. You can create the perfect card and gift to make your Mum smile this Mother’s Day.

Our letterbox cake cards have been specifically designed to fit through a standard-size letterbox, allowing us to send these unique gift cakes by post. This is a great way to show your Mum how much you care, even if you can’t be with her on Mothering Sunday.

We deliver all over the UK and if you order by 3pm we offer same-day dispatch. Our packaging is well thought out and robust so your cakes arrive in perfect condition every time - you don't need to worry about sending cake through the post with Cake Card!
