Mother’s Day Cakes

Something different for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day always seems to come around quickly each year, you get all of the other occasions out of the way and then suddenly Mother’s Day creeps up on you. This year, Mother’s Day is Sunday the 19th of March 2023, so you’ve got a bit of time to prepare what you are going to give your Mum or what you are going to do with her.

We often fall into the same habits of buying the same thing year after year, flowers and chocolates tend to be a go to for this occasion. And going out isn’t always an option, sometimes you leave it too late to book anywhere nice to take your Mum. Even if you do manage to book something, it’s usually over crowded as that’s what everyone else has decided to do. So, perhaps this year, creating an experience in your home or bringing an experience to your Mum would be more ideal.

How do you create a Mother’s Day experience at home? Well, one thing that most Mum’s enjoy, is a bit of pampering. So, instead of going out to a spa, which is very costly, why not bring the spa experience to her. It’s much more cost effective to buy facemasks and nail care kits to use at home. Create some refreshments by grabbing some ice, water, lemon slices, and cucumber slices (most spas have refreshment like this available to help get rid of toxins). One thing that many spa experiences include is an afternoon tea and they don’t actually cost a lot to create yourself.

Most items for an afternoon tea you’ll have at home anyway, or they’ll be very reasonably priced in your local supermarket. The main elements you’ll need are; finger sandwiches (plus if you make your own you don’t have to worry about the ones you don’t like – you just cut the crust off regular sandwiches and cut them in to fingers), scones, clotted cream, jam, and mini cakes. There are optional extras you could add on like sausage rolls, or pork pies, but the best thing about doing it yourself is that you can choose what you like to go in the afternoon tea. You could even create a sparkling one for Mum by buying a bottle of sparkling wine or prosecco.

While we can’t help with the savoury we can definitely help with the sweets. Whether you do want to go down the afternoon tea route, or if you want something different for her, why not gift her a cake this Mother’s Day. We have a few options to choose from which will certainly put a smile on her face this year.
