Coeliac Awareness Week 2022

Let’s talk about Gluten Free food

Something that is misunderstood is that there is a difference between being gluten intolerant and having Coeliac Disease. With Coeliac Disease even the smallest trace of gluten can make them extremely unwell. So, Coeliac Awareness Week was created to raise the understanding around the disease. It isn’t a choice, and many people with Coeliac Disease or even a gluten intolerance would tell you that they wish they didn’t have to avoid gluten.

It can be extremely difficult navigating menus when you need a completely gluten free dish, although gluten free offerings have improved in variety and quality, some items are still not always quite there. And a lot of the time, it might be as simple as they are just trying to fill in a requirement, rather than thinking about the end result.

We have to consider everything when we are working in the food industry. It’s a passion of ours to deliver a great range of cakes to ensure that everyone can enjoy them. When we started out creating a gluten free range, we were adamant that we wanted to create a range that tasted and looked just as good as our standard range. There were many gluten free cakes we tried from elsewhere, and we found that with a lot of the cakes we tried that they were dry and crumbly. So, we are pleased to say that we thing our range hits the nail on the head and is a great gluten free equivalent to our standard range.

And the work continues in the background to make our gluten free cakes the best that they can possibly be, with a part of our bakery now separate from where we bake our standard range, we have minimised the risk of gluten cross contamination further.

We have continued to expand our gluten free range as well, as much in line with our standard range as possible. So, there is a great variety to choose from, including classic flavours such as gluten free Victoria Sponge cakes, to surprising cakes such as our gluten free pinata cakes. We really do have a cake for every occasion and every person. Here’s is some more information about a few of our gluten free cakes:
