Cake Card Price Change

An Update about our Cake Card Service

We are constantly looking forwards to improve our service for our customers, we always aim to ensure that they receive brilliant products and a great customer experience, and our Cake Card service is no exception to this.

You may already aware that Royal Mail has been struggling to deliver a lot of post and parcels on time, especially during these exceptional times, due to knock-on effects from the pandemic and an increased volume of deliveries. This is affecting first class post significantly, which in the past would usually arrive 24 hours after posting. We are aware that it has been taking significantly longer to deliver many items, including our Cake Cards which were delivered via standard First-Class Royal Mail. From our experience, we found it was taking around four days to deliver first-class items, and we were doing everything we could to get orders to our customers on their selected estimated delivery dates. However, even dispatching earlier, while making sure your cakes were still fresh on arrival, it was still taking a long time for deliveries to arrive in certain areas.

With that in mind, we have taken action. With another lockdown in full effect, we want to improve our service further, so we have taken the decision to move all of our Cake Cards to the 48 hours Tracked Royal Mail service. The success rate for tracked postage is much higher than standard first-class postage, and Royal Mail seems to have prioritised packages on those services. The benefits to our customers greatly out-weigh anything – if you order a Cake Card, you will now get full visibility of your Cake Card order through a tracking number, and Royal Mails track and trace service. You will be able to see where your Cake Card is after dispatch and when it has been delivered, which is especially useful for when you are sending them as a gift to a loved one or friend.

Tracked postage is more expensive than standard first class mail, so we have had to pass on some (but not all) of this cost. This means that the price of our Cake Cards has been increased to £8.50 for our single slice Cake Cards, and to £10.50 for our two-slice Cake Cards. They are still great value for money, and our customers can now rest assured with the ability to track the progress of their orders from start to finish.

You don’t need to do anything extra to get the tracked service when ordering a Cake card. Just order them as you normally would, and select your preferred delivery date at the checkout. We will dispatch 48 hours prior to your selected delivery date, which should be more than enough time to get your orders delivered for a selected date. However, we still strongly recommend that if your Cake Card is required to be delivered by a specific date and our customers allow an additional day by selecting the day before the special occasion as the delivery date when placing your order.
