We are well into spring now and not far off the summer months! Hurray! The days are getting longer and longer, we are getting out and about more again, and generally the sunshine makes us all feel more motivated. At this time of year, we are looking for ideas of fresh tasting food, because when the heat starts rising, we don’t want to eat anything too heavy.
Now, we know that there are lots of birthdays and celebrations across the spring and summer months. And with that, cakes are a necessity, but we want a cake that has a fresh taste; light and refreshing.
We have created our Zucchini and Lime Cake, and it is perfect for summer birthdays, celebrations, picnics and BBQs.
Our three-layered Zucchini and Lime Cake is bursting with flavour - the zingy lime combined with the salty, crunchy pistachios and the subtle flavour and texture of courgette is a match made in heaven. A wonderfully light and airy sponge with lime flavoured buttercream and crunchy, salty chopped pistachios sit on top.
What is zucchini? Well, it’s quite simple, zucchini is the American term for a courgette. So, why are we using it instead of the British word? We are a British company after all. Well, we think it sounds a bit more exotic and intriguing for one thing. And for some reason, some people are put off by the idea of vegetables in cakes. Personally, we love a cake with vegetables in, it definitely creates a moist cake.
Not only is this a wonderful spring/summer cake in our standard range, but it is also available as a gluten free cake, so lots of people can enjoy this delicious cake in the sunshine.
Our sponge cakes are packaged in secure and robust packaging. The inner box is wrapped around the cake to securely hold it in place so the sides and top do not get damaged in transit. The box also includes a handy cutting guide! It is then put in a strong cardboard outer box for extra protection so it will arrive to you safely.
We deliver our Zucchini and Lime cakes all over the UK, with next-day delivery if you order before 3pm. You can send a yummy cake right to their door, a perfect surprise if you aren't able to see them on a special occasion. You can even send someone a Courgette and Lime cake in the post to them, just to let them know you are thinking about them. You can select the ideal delivery date for the special occasion, we do suggest choosing the delivery date the day before to account for any unforeseen circumstances with delivery.
And, although it doesn’t happen often, if you struggle to finish your cake, or for any reason you have left over cake, or you want to save it for a later date, we have some good news for you. You can freeze our zucchini and lime cakes for up to 6 months. Just pop them in the freezer whole in their original packaging or in an airtight container. Then when you’re ready for a slice, take it out and leave it in a nice cosy spot for 24 hours or until the buttercream is soft to touch and the cake it up to room temperature and it’ll be ready to enjoy.
