I got chocolate sponge cake delivered as a gift on my birthday. great packaging, gr8 sponge. I will be ordering one for my daughter's birthday very soon. i microwaved it for 10 secs and it was yummmmmmmmmmmm. it tastes good when cold as well.

I have always been passionate about these cakes ever since I first discovered Byfords in Holt many years ago!! I had a chocolate sponge recently to celebrate moving house (as you do) and I was deliciously surprised to discover that it had a topping - vanilla butter cream (i think) and real chocolate shavings! I was a little wary as this was my first purchase and for my husband's birthday. We were not disappointed, it was well packaged and tasted absolutely delicious, a fantastic moist sponge - the depth of the sponge was seriously huge and the chocolatey filling wasn't at all sickly. Just had the baby chocolate one which had the plain vanilla buttercream filling. Deeeelicious! So moist! The plain filling worked really well with the chocolate sponge, not too much chocolate! Defo eat again.
