

The Story So Far...
We have been selling wonderful sponge in our higgledy, piggledy café since September 2000.During this period all the ingredients have flowed through the fingertips of our cake legend Sue Barron. With old-school standards and a stickler for detail, Sue's sponge cakes have developed a huge following.
Customers have stood open-mouthed at the scale of the cake, some went weak at the knees with the flavour, and others hollowed out the middle and moved in! We realised there was a love affair going on...
There was always a vision that the sponge cakes could be shared on a much wider scale. The creation of a product that would celebrate the nicer things in life and keep us all on the curvy side!
During the summer of 2009 we took our sponge cakes out of the comfort of their Byfords home, created a new look under the company name of SPONGE and held stands at the county's shows.
The feedback was great and the decision made - we would go for it! Much excitement, tastings, research and the usual good pinch of graft followed and here you have it.

Sponge people... We search high and low for great people who are happy to share our values.Sponge quality ingredients... It's easy to cut corners - we don't! Only the best ingredients in each Sponge.
Small is beautiful... Our Sponge is made with love and care in small batches. We hope Sponge will have many fans, but our attention to the finer detail and quality will always remain the same.
What you see is what you get... We are straightforward folk. We will tell you everything about our business, the product we sell, and occasionally ask for your help - if you're keen! Fingers crossed, you will trust us, and we can create something we are all proud of.
We are mad, crazy, bonkers about SPONGE and hope that you should absolutely love every mouthful.
